Janus

Within the confines of a carnal shell,
two halves of a whole war for dominance.
Spirit and soul are born anew,
while flesh and brain yet rot and remain.
The old cur rises to battle with rabid vigor
the new creation which fights for eternal life.
Animal mauls Cherubim, and Angel slays Man.
Here, between both Heaven and Hell,
stands Janus.
