"Jesterday"

I look back upon my past, and realize I was a fool.
Still, the dice lie where they were cast, transfixed in time's dusty rule.
Trials and hardships not withstanding, my mistakes are still my own.
And condemnation is demanding, that I reap from what I've sown.
There, yawning like the grave lies my fate before my feet.
'Til by the Lord my soul was freed, in a victory so sweet.
I'm a humbled fool, now much wiser. A survivor of my pains.
Life now wells up in me a geiser, errupting from a once sterile plain.
This fool knows now a thing or two, it's all in who you know,
The God that holds my future also lives where I'm to go.
You see, though I still wear the cap and bells, I'm smart enough to see,
That my lot was for a flaming hell, 'til the Lord Jesus answered my plea.
I'll let you judge me. Am I foolish? One bought by saving grace?
It's not where you start but where you'll finish,
when you see your Maker's face.
